Composition Re-Boot
Refresh, rewind, RE-BOOT While relaxing by the Atlantic Ocean, learn how to build visual impact and excitement in your TWO-D work. Discussions will focus on Elements and Principles of Design in relation to basic pictorial composition. In painting and drawing sessions, inspired by Coastal North Carolina, participants can work in their medium of choice. This NEW workshop, Composition Re-Boot is en plein air, with morning lessons followed by group work time. Afternoons vary, with some additional demonstrations or one-on-one assistance. Some evenings include salon presentations and discussions. While Ms. Fogg demonstrates with tools of drawing and watercolor, topics will be relevant to creative souls of all disciplines. Our base for this this one week experience is a spacious beach house facing the Atlantic Ocean, with views of both sunrise and sunset. Besides shells, dunes, water, sky, plein air sites include oyster flats, live oak trees, boats & more.
There are two ways of participating, plus a twist! 1. Join us in the beach house. 2. Stay in your own housing. MUST be able to travel independently or bring a travel assistant. THE TWIST 8pm eastern time via zoom March 12, 14, 19, 21 We've added an additional component! It is for anyone, no matter whether an artist or an appreciator. This series of four 1-1 1/2 hour zoom sessions covers the basics of composition. Guest instructor Anita Mills will present Elements and Principles of Design in relation to basic pictorial composition. GREAT information for ANY visual artist. For others, this philosophical discussion of aesthetics will further your understanding of art. Open to all, this four-part series is a great lead-up to Composition Re-Boot (workshop detailed above) during which we will incorporate these concepts. REGISTRATION OPEN TO ANYONE, whether a practicing artist or not, whether attending Composition Re-Boot or not. Holden Beach
Holden Beach is midway between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC - about 50 minutes from each. The Town is situated on an Atlantic coastal barrier island, facing south onto the Long Bay region of Brunswick County.
With over eight miles of clean, sandy beaches and a year round moderate temperature, the island has a quiet, family oriented atmosphere. Surf fishing and shelling are popular. The island is a sea turtle habitat and during the hatching season (May - October) those who don't mind staying up late can witness one of nature's most interesting pleasures - watching hundreds of small sea turtles "boil" out of the sand and marching to the ocean. |
