My work is informed and inspired by forms found in nature. I consider and experience the foundations of the earth as symbolic of the ‘grounding’ of spirit. Representation is distilled to form, movement, essence. The process is a dance between concept and emotion. Pieces in one recent body of work evoke atmospheres of escape and rejuvenation. Another set of works explores the square, as inspired by patterns and juxtapositions within Japanese rice fields. In a sense, the pieces are icons-for-musing. |
