​Color, light, and form are such a dynamic part of visuals of Greece. We see this in ancient built structures as well as in its land and water. They also have impact on the local culture—historic, agricultural, and the living of life.

Join us in experiencing a climate of light and form, observing water, stone and structure as we wander off the beaten path, witnessing ancient architectural forms, unique villages and mythological and symbolic imagery...sketching along the way.

Witness historical and cultural sites, as well as the beautiful nature of Greece. We will start in Athens, then spend time on islands, getting closer to Greek folk history.
This workshop is designed to facilitate discoveries for participants of all levels and all disciplines (drawing, painting, collage, photography, writing...other).

Itinerary

Our journey begins in Athens, with historical sites and topics (Acropolis, Olympics, Cycladic Art, etc.) Drawing exercises will prepare us for opportunities to experience Greece more deeply, preparing to sketch on site.

We will spend time on the iconic island of Santorini, exploring the color BLUE as well as the opportunity to draw at a dig of Minoan civilization.

On the island of Tinos, we will have a chance to experience Greece more intimately, learning of mysteries, miracles and marble. We will visit a Tinian home built in 1825 as well as a private Greek Orthodox chapel. We will settle into several days of capturing color, light and form in our sketchbooks.

Hotels will be authentic Greek establishments rather than Americanized accommodations.

INCLUDES:
Education: informative site visits; class sessions (exercises and demonstrations) on creative processes.

Transportation: round trip transportation from Athens airport to hotel, transportation to/from scheduled sites, transportation to listed islands and back to Athens airport.

Meals: breakfast, four scheduled group dinners.

Find inspiration in markets, doorways, and waters of Athens, Santorini and Tinos. Expand drawing skills with sketching en plein air (on-site).
