Creative Immersion Retreat
-planting seeds of creativity-

Isla Mujeres, Mexico
January 6-13, 2018

Immerse yourself in creative exploration. Find inspiration in colors of the ocean, textures of a Mexican village, shapes of the sea grape leaf. This workshop is designed to facilitate discoveries for participants of all levels and all disciplines (drawing, painting, collage...other).

Relying on her decades of teaching experience, Monica Fogg sets up daily topics and challenges to help inspire and free the creative spirit. For those with much aesthetic experience, her teaching supports evolution of a personal voice or vision. For those with little experience, she guides past their messages of fear and limitation.

This Creative Immersion Retreat is en plein air. It is structured with morning demonstrations, followed by group work time. Afternoons vary, with some additional demonstrations or one-on-one assistance. Then a break and dinner. Two evenings include salon presentations and discussions. While Ms. Fogg demonstrates with tools of drawing and watercolor, topics and discussions will be relevant to creative souls of all
disciplines.

For some, this workshop may simply be an oasis in the middle of a busy life,a chance to unwind and re-direct. For others, it will be a chance to waken dormant skills. We hope that it will be the impetus for ideas that continue to develop long after the Creative Immersion Retreat is over.

Isla Mujeres

“The Island of Women”, narrow and a little over 4 miles long, is off the northeast tip of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, a short distance from Cancun. It includes low forest, areas of savannah, coastal lagoons, cenotes, mangroves, village areas and beaches. It is a safe environment, with warm climate and many who speak English. Isla Mujeres’ southern tip is the easternmost point of Mexico, the first place the morning sun hits.

While there is evidence of human settlers from 300 to 50 BC, more recent history (post 1451) identifies the area as Mayan, with Spanish conquests beginning in 1527. Pirates attacked the area as well. It is rumored that Fermin Mundaca and the Lafitte Brothers sought refuge on the island.
