Painterly Drawing #2: Creating with Watercolor Pencils

​This 3-hour workshop follows up on methods introduced in Painterly Drawing #1 (Sat, May 11, 2019, 1-4). We will delve further into uses of watercolor pencils, developing at least two distinct methods, while also discussing composition and story.

We will consider methods such as:
  • Sketching. Sketching a simple foundation versus more dramatically capturing expression.
  • Intention. Using watercolor pencils in a descriptive method versus an approach that is interpretive.
  • Surface. Building visual texture versus developing a velvet ambiance.​

Bring: supplies (list will be provided), open mind, and a couple of small , colorful treasures from home to use as subject matter. These can be simple or complex. Starting suggestions include: shoe, vase, fruit, lantern, feather, rock, figurine, etc.

Prerequisites:  This workshop follows Painterly Drawing I and is appropriate for those with some previous experience using watercolor pencils.
